Pascal Bouvry and Roger Lampach appointed CEO of LuxProvide S.A. in charge of implementing and operating the supercomputer MeluXina.
The entry into office of the new management team of LuxProvide S.A. with Roger Lampach and Pascal Bouvry – both appointed CEO – represents another important step in the implementation of the Luxembourg high-performance computing infrastructure (HPC) supported by European funds and integrating the European supercomputer network EuroHPC.
In order to ensure the implementation and development of the MeluXina project, LuxProvide S.A. – a subsidiary of LuxConnect established in 2019 – is currently in full expansion.
Roger Lampach was initially appointed Managing Director of LuxProvide in August 2019 with the mission of setting up a team of up to 50 people. Now, Roger Lampach and Professor Pascal Bouvry were both appointed CEO, forming a complementary pairing. Drawing on his experience, particularly in the implementation and development of LuxConnect, Roger Lampach oversees the industrial and project management components, while Pascal Bouvry provides scientific monitoring of the implementation of the Luxembourg HPC, while retaining his position as a professor at the University of Luxembourg.
The management team is completed by Valentin Plugaru who joined LuxProvide as CTO. Finally, Matthieu Lefebvre holds the position of Group Leader, User Engagement & Professional Services responsible for setting up a team of specialists dedicated to the different sectors covered by the capabilities of the supercomputer: Industry 4.0, Ecotech (mobility), Healthtech, Logistics, Space and Finances.

Furthermore, in January 2020, the European High Performance Computing Joint Undertaking and LuxProvide have issued a tender for the acquisition, installation and maintenance of the national supercomputer called MeluXina. Final offers are currently analyzed and a decision about the supplier will be made shortly.
Focusing on the needs of its users, including companies and players in the Luxembourg economy, MeluXina is a key element of the Luxembourg Government’s innovation policy. The objective of the supercomputer is to develop and support a digital, secure and sustainable economy in order to promote the digital transition of the economy, improving competitiveness and facilitating business innovation. With this in mind, the Luxembourg HPC will be a one-stop-shop with easy access to high-performance computing capabilities.
