MELUXINA

In June 2021, LuxProvide launched the MeluXina supercomputer on the EVIDEN BullSequana XH2000 platform, with 18 PetaFlops of computing power and 20 PetaBytes of storage.

It integrates simulation, modeling, data analytics, and AI, thanks to its scalable architecture and GPU AI accelerators.
MeluXina ranked 36th globally and was the greenest in the EU in the Top500 ranking.

Named after Luxembourg’s legend of the mermaid Melusina, it underscores Luxembourg’s digital innovation, using water-cooling to reflect its namesake.

MeluXina is operated by LuxProvide, under the governance of the Ministry of Economy and the Ministry of State. MeluXina is hosted in Luxembourg data centers operated by LuxConnect, enabling data sovereignty and compliance with Luxembourg and European regulations on data security.

MeluXina is one of the few supercomputing platforms in Europe with the ISO 27001 certification. This certification demonstrates that LuxProvide adheres to stringent information security management standards, providing confidence that your data is protected by internationally recognized practices. With an information security management system in place, we ensure secure data handling and management.

MeluXina’s host data centers are certified Tier IV, the highest level of resiliency in the industry. This certification signifies complete redundancy for all facility components, resulting in an uptime of 99.995% of the data center. This empowers us to ensure that your data is always accessible and secure.

Within MeluXina, customer data is isolated for privacy and confidentiality. We use robust hardware and software boundaries to ensure the risk of data leakage or unauthorized access is greatly reduced. This level of isolation provides a secure environment for all your computing needs.

Data backup and archiving are critical to protecting your information. MeluXina offers backup solutions to guard against user errors, and unexpected outages. This way, you can be confident that your data is safe and recoverable.

MeluXina’s networking redundancy ensures supremely stable and reliable connectivity. We maintain multiple links to the Internet and private networks, minimizing the risk of network service failure. This robust infrastructure allows your projects to run smoothly without interruption.

Private connectivity is crucial for secure data transfers. MeluXina is connected to private networks such as the LU-CIX backbone, Restena and GÉANT, and provides options for direct private connectivity. This approach provides a safe way to transmit sensitive information between different locations, and avoid the risks of public internet transfers.

At LuxProvide, privacy is a top priority. All projects hosted on MeluXina are anonymized, with company and user information replaced by generic identifiers. This method ensures your sensitive data and project details remain confidential, allowing you to work with complete privacy.

We are engineering the MeluXina Cloud to provide gateways to our supercomputing platform, supporting your most intensive computational and data workflows. 

The MeluXina Cloud is meant to host:

  •  interactive environments for building and running AI models
  •  container registries that deliver encapsulated, trusted applications to supercomputing container engines
  •  portals and APIs that will enable you to deploy applications tailored to your needs
  •  object-oriented interfaces to our data pools

A Kubernetes platform running on top of the MeluXina Cloud is in the works. It will link the supercomputing platform to flexible, cloud-native services, and empower scalable AI solutions.
