Accelerating Climate Intelligence
The Strategic Collaboration Between RSS‑Hydro and LuxProvide
RSS-Hydro: Company Overview & Strategic Milestones
RSS-Hydro is a leading Earth observation (EO) and geospatial intelligence firm based in Luxembourg, dedicated to building global climate resilience. Founded by Guy Schumann, the company leverages satellite data, machine learning, and advanced computer modeling to transform how we observe and predict natural hazards.
Technological Innovation
The company specializes in translating complex Earth observation data into “compressed intelligence” products, such as its flagship FloodSENS and FireSENS algorithms.
- Space Edge Computing: RSS-Hydro is pioneering the deployment of algorithms directly onto satellites and orbital cloud services, with partners like D-Orbit and EnduroSat, to reduce data latency from days to minutes.
- Supercomputing & 3D Visualization: Utilizing Luxembourg’s MeluXina supercomputer, the firm has achieved a 10x increase in simulation speed for their urban flood risk modeling service, which made them a Fit4Start Accelerator winner. They further integrate these models with scene-generation tools such as NVIDIA Omniverse to create realistic 3D visualizations for disaster preparedness.
- Strategic Shift to Prediction: The company is transitioning from reactive observation to proactive forecasting, with a target Technology Readiness Level (TRL) for its predictive solutions expected by Spring 2026.

Key Events & Achievements
RSS-Hydro has demonstrated consistent growth through high-level partnerships and strategic expansion. The company joined the Google for Startups Accelerator, the Microsoft Startup program, and is a partner in NVIDIA’s Inception Program. RSS-Hydro was featured as a partner at the NVIDIA GTC 2024 conference where they were recognized for realistic geospatial visualization of extreme weather impacts. In July 2025, RSS-Hydro strategically acquired Water in Sight, a Stockholm-based climate SaaS, to enhance its water-monitoring portfolio. While RSS-Hydro teams up with big and small companies, the company actively doubles its workforce, focusing on high-qualified technical profiles and global sales expansion
Global Humanitarian Impact
RSS-Hydro maintains a strong focus on “EO for all,” specifically in countries of vulnerable communities:
- Somalia: Piloting a flood early-warning system in Beledweyne that sends real-time river level alerts directly to residents’ mobile phones.
- Bangladesh: Mapping affected villages and infrastructure to improve local flood impact understanding, funded by Luxembourg’s development aid.
- Niger & Sahel: Developing digital early-warning systems for the Niger River in collaboration with regional intergovernmental institutions, such as AGRHYMET and AfriGEO.
Renewed 3-Year Partnership with LuxProvide
The Problem. Traditional satellite-based flood mapping relies often on manual or slow, expert-intensive processing of optical or radar data, creating a lag that prevents emergency teams from seeing the actual extent of a disaster as it unfolds.
The MeluXina Solution. By deploying RSS-Hydro’s Machine Learning (ML) algorithm on HPC, the application can rapidly scale to meet the ever-growing need of faster insights for emergency response assistance when multiple flood disasters hit simultaneously across a number of regions around the globe. We can now process tens of large satellite images simultaneously and in the same time it takes to process a single image.
The Real Impact. We transform raw satellite data into a rapid response monitoring service that provides responders with situational awareness in a timely manner when it still matters.
