MeluXina-Q
Quantum Computing at the Core of Luxembourg’s Digital Infrastructure
MeluXina‑Q is Luxembourg’s upcoming quantum computing system, hosted and operated by LuxProvide. Integrated within the MeluXina infrastructure, it will extend the country’s capabilities in high-performance and hybrid computing. MeluXina‑Q will support the development and testing of quantum-classical workflows in secure, sovereign environments.
This new platform was officially announced in October 2024 and is part of the EuroHPC Joint Undertaking’s roadmap to deploy quantum computers across Europe.

The acquisition and operation of the EuroHPC quantum computer is funded jointly by the EuroHPC Joint Undertaking, through the European Union’s Digital Europe programme, as well as by Participating State Luxembourg

A European Quantum System, Built for Integration
MeluXina‑Q will be based on spin‑qubit technology in silicon, developed within the European ecosystem. The system will initially feature a 10‑qubit quantum processing unit, with a planned expansion to up to 80 physical qubits over time.
Its integration within the existing LuxProvide infrastructure will allow users to run quantum computing tasks in coordination with classical HPC and AI workloads.

Designed for Real-World Applications
Quantum computing is expected to bring new capabilities to domains such as:
- Simulation of molecules and materials
- Secure cryptography and algorithm testing
- Complex optimisation problems
- Financial modelling
- Advanced AI and ML research
MeluXina‑Q is designed to support both experimentation and early use cases across research and industry.
Trusted, Secure and Sovereign
Like all systems operated by LuxProvide, MeluXina‑Q will be hosted in Luxembourg’s Tier IV data centres, and covered by our ISO 27001-certified information security framework. This ensures continuity with the security and compliance guarantees already in place for MeluXina and MeluXina‑AI.
The system will be connected to national infrastructure and to the broader EuroHPC network, enabling access under Luxembourgish and European data protection regulations.
Co-Financed at the European Level
MeluXina‑Q is co-funded by the EuroHPC JU and the Luxembourg government.
The system is part of a broader effort to build quantum capacity across Europe, while reinforcing the country’s long-term commitment to secure and accessible digital infrastructure.
Deployment Timeline and Outlook
MeluXina‑Q will evolve in phases, with further integration into hybrid HPC-AI-quantum workflows as usage matures.
As with all LuxProvide platforms, MeluXina‑Q will be accompanied by tailored support services, onboarding resources, and secure access options to facilitate adoption.
